The Teo cordless table lamp is redefining the concept of illumination through a unique dialogue between marble and paper.
Designed by Luca Nichetto for Salvatori and inspired by the works of renowned modernist architect Ieoh Ming Pei, it represents an artful balance of technological innovation and design poetry.
The genesis of an ingenious idea
Teo’s story began in a moment of spontaneous creativity when, during a visit to Luca Nichetto’s studio, Gabriele Salvatori was absentmindedly playing with a sheet of paper. This seemingly casual gesture was the spark for a lamp combining noble natural stone and everyday paper.
As Luca Nichetto explains “This project took a bit of time to achieve the desired result, which is interesting because the inspiration comes from a simple gesture: rolling a piece of paper and placing it into a marble base.”
The essence of design
The lamp comprises a double-layer circular base in natural stone, the first component of which contains the USB charger while the second houses the dimmable LED light.
A sheet of rolled paper is inserted into the base to form the shade, creating a soft, gentle glow that immediately transforms the atmosphere.
The concept may seem wonderfully simple but as always, it’s the tiny details that make the difference. Perfecting the design was no easy task, as the designer himself explains: “Our intention was to design a sleek, elegant lamp with a high-end craft perception. Developing the right lighting source, however, took considerable time.” – Luca Nichetto
A range of colour combinations
The stone base is available in a choice of classic white Bianco Carrara, sophisticated green Verde Guatemala and a striking red Rosso Levanto, each marble selected for its capacity to work with both a classic white shade and a range of colours.
Teo comes with one pink, one green, one grey and two white sheets of lightweight yet hardwearing paper that is resistant to water, scratches and stains.
